United States Final UAV Rules May be Delayed Until 2016 or 2017

We are early in 2015 and draft rules from the FAA are still not out yet.  This could delay final rules until 2016 or 2017 according to the Grand Forks Herald.  Until the proposed rules come out it makes it difficult to train commerical operators if they need just a flight certificate or a complete pilot’s license.

The delay continues to be privacy concerns, in Northeast North Dakota only around 30% of survey respondents have problems with UAV flights in the area, a minority but significant minority which can only get worse by improper use of UAVs (see previous post for examples).  Currently UAV companies are working with international clients for sales until rules are finalized and open up in the United States.
