MAPPS Calls On States to Allow UAVs in Their Airspace

MAPPS is calling on states in the United States to not enact laws restricting UAVs in the airspace.  More and more states are enacting laws restricting UAVs for privacy concerns.  The discussion is that UAVs are just another flight platform for data acquisition.  The same data standards and acquisition that have been used for decades with traditional aerial data acquisition will continue, personal privacy will be respected.  The data will be used to mitigate natural disasters, disaster planning, and infrastructure development to improve commerce and public safety.

The way forward will continue the FAA roadmap created in 2013 and is hoped to become a reality sooner than later with UAV surveying UAV flights worked into current and future FAA rules and air traffic control networks.
