Startups focusing on GIS systems and other large data analytics with a geospatial component are multiplying all over India. Currently there are 3,100 through today, the end of 2014 and technology startups of all types are expected to be around 11,500 by 2020. This growing technology is following the growing middle class in India. There are nine hotspot cities, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Cochin, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram are all expected to see future growth.
I can see the GIS sector to also expand to include the Geomatics sector as there is much overlap in the technologies, it will also mean increased UAV use in India, it is legal there with just license approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The more mapping, the bigger growth and increase in public safety/emergency management across the country, it is a bright future for India.
