Indian City of Malapparam to Roll Out GIS System in Jan 2015

The southwestern Indian city of Malapparam will roll out their GIS System in Jan 2015.  From the article it is the start of the system with the beginning phase to map key infrastructure.  It is not clear how much remote sensing will be involved in the data capture or the update cycles of data beyond 2015.  It is a good step to the future and the more the assets are inventoried the better government operations will be and quality of life for the citizens should increase, it will have better disaster recovery/emergency management options in the future.
