Road Improvements Needed in India for 380 Road Deaths Every Day

India has 380 people die on their roads each day (that number may also be too low).  Besides problems with licensing, the biggest problem is the road conditions.  The article mentions poor lane design, more cars, motorbikes, and other vehicles on the road and road deterioration.  With the new Indian government, it is a time for re-investment in the roads, more GIS and Geomatics datasets to prepare for the construction and map the worst spots.  LiDAR scans via planes, helicopters, cars, and UAVs would work for different sections, along with Orthophoto Image capture for use with Hexagon’s AutoDTM and other infrastructure mapping.  With the correct steps taken, GIS/Geomatics will be a life saver by increasing public safety.
