Businesses Failing and Succeeding

The Hutchinson Leader of Hutchinson, Minnesota, has a good article on why some businesses succeed and some fail.  Businesses that thrive leverage current and upcoming technologies, both in production and sales.  They listen to their customers and tailor products and changes to products to them.  They adapt to the current and future market conditions, they plan for the best and worst of times.  Finally they anticipate what the competition is going to do, they take risks and experiment.

While the article was tailored to small town America, it works globally and for the GIS/Geomatics and Meteorology disciplines it also holds true, weather technologies are always changing, ArcMap 3 is not the same as ArcGIS 10 and CAD has grown and LiDAR and other optical scanners keep improving with better engineering hardware and software.

The sky is truly the limit for the future.
