Open Source Commercial UAVs

NPR had a story on July 8, 2013 about a Open Source UAV company in Silicon Valley, 3D Robotics. They are taking the commercial UAVs to affordable levels to SMBs. They offer both helicopter and fixed wing hardware and software you can program flight plans.  Their affordability will make commercial UAVs more common in future years for all types of surveying.  It will also make UAVs more accepted in coming years. Only cameras are onboard but future technology improvements can mean higher quality photogrammerty and LiDAR applications.
