UCAR’s 2013 MPEX Experiment

The University Center for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) is conducting their Mesoscale Predictability Experiment (MPEX) from May 15-June 15, 2013 over the central high plains of the US.  The thesis is to try to find if additional sub-synoptic observations via radiosondes and dropsondes to improve convective forecasts in a 6-24hr forecast period and improve the forecast models convective algorithms.  Here is the complete operations plan for the experiment.
